Energy Conservation and Recycling
More energy efficient lighting.
Almost all Crate and Barrel stores have now converted to low energy lighting systems, reducing energy consumption by 30 to 40 percent. At our warehouse locations, we are in the process of converting 1,000-watt lighting fixtures to more energy-efficient 400-watt fixtures. And our warehouses now have sensor aisle lights that illuminate only when in use.

More energy efficient HVAC systems.
We have installed HVAC Energy Management systems in many of our store locations. These new systems reduce energy consumption by 10 percent.
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Rethink everything, every day.
We currently have a very successful recycling program at our stores, warehouses and corporate offices in which we recycle corrugated cardboard and plastic. We are also initiating plans to backhaul recycling material from our stores to our warehouses. Recycling efforts are being expanded to include office paper, plastic, bottles and cans. We will continue to challenge our store and logistics operations to work toward Zero Waste.
